Crystal's Thoughts: Miranda Billings was having one hell of a day.  Loses her job, gets dumped and then to top it all off....she gets flattened by a bus.  That might seem like the end of it for her, but sexy EMT Andre, whom had been crushing on her for some time now, brings her back to life with his handy dandy half-demon powers.  Now with nothing to lose, Miranda has to make a decision.  Stay on the run fighting demons with a man she barely knows whom isn't even human himself, or figure something else out.  The choice seems almost too easy.  

I enjoyed this story immensely.  Reading this book was like being able to eat a whole box of chocolate covered cherries but only having the guilt of just one piece.  It was short, but felt like I read a whole story.  The passion between the two characters was amazing, leaving me a little breathless and my heart beating a bit harder.  I enjoyed her descriptiveness but was a little confused sometimes as to which characters mind I was in.  All in all I enjoyed what I read.

My Thoughts: I don't read a lot of paranormal romance anymore. To be honest, it was the name of this book that caught my attention. I have to say, I didn't really get where the title played into the book, but that's okay. This to me was a good paranormal. I was not brought into the world of vampires and werewolves. I was brought into a world of demons and they really didn't come across evil. There were the evil ones of coarse, but then some just seemed to be good. Especially since angels were willing to work with the demons to destroy the evil demons. I found this book to be quite comical and often wondered what these people were thinking. It almost felt like a Janet Evanovich meets paranormal!

The romance in the book is pretty good. I had hoped for a little more between Lucy and Rafe considering she is a succubus demon...aka sex demon. I had expected her urges to be there just a little bit more between her and Rafe. However when the two did meet up, you could see how much the two couldn't resist one another. Rafe was the one fighting his emotions in this book as the last woman he had loved had died because of him.

There were several little twists in this book that made this book good and left you laughing. I think most anyone who enjoys venturing to the world of paranormal is going to really enjoy this one.

My Thoughts: One reason I love anthologies is because you get more then one book in one book. I love that I can sit for an hour and usually finish one of the stories, put the book down and feel accomplished. I also love anthologies because you can read them between books. With that being said, I really enjoyed this book. This is actually an anthology that I sat down and read all four stories in a row.  I got sucked into this book for its genre. Yes, most of my followers know I don't read a lot of paranormal anymore. I love contemporary romance. However, this book is paranormal, but it isn't vampires, werewolves, lephracuans, or anything like that. I deals with the past. Ghosts even if you want to call it that, or spirits, even a genie! There is one thing that ties all these books together and it is when they shop in an antique shop. Something they buy has secret powers to go deep into their souls to their desires. The stories are light hearted and short. Yet, even though they are short, you leave the stories feeling like you just read a whole novel. All four authors did a wonderful job. This book is erotica, so this is strongly recommended for readers who are over 18 as there is strong sexual content in this book.

I recommend this book to those who like their romance hot and heavy. I think this is very enjoyable for almost anyone to read.

Crystal's Thoughts: This book is not your normal paranormal romance.  Think, Greys Anatomy with paranormal mixed in.  There are a lot of medical references in this book and those not acquainted with medical jargon, may have to do a bit of referencing to get what the main character is talking about most of the time.  I liked the heroine in the book because of her courage, but also her ability to seem just as human as the rest of us.  There is a lot of fast paced action involved and the ending isn't quite what you will expect.  It was quite refreshing, though, and I can't wait to read the next book in the installment.

My Thoughts: This book was different, and it was different in a good way. It was definitely a change in my normal reading. The story starts out slow, but once your a few chapters in, your hooked. You start to wonder, what in the heck is going on. I think for most of this story, I stayed so intrigued because there was a lot to figure out and you were waiting to see what Holly was going to do. Who wouldn't when you son is the spawn of of Satan, or could even be Satan himself. Its all in how you interpret this book. There is a lot of paranormal aspects in this book, so I think anyone who likes that kind of book would enjoy this one.

Holly as a character was hard to figure out. I think even when the book was ending, she was still a puzzle to me.  There were things she did in this book, that will shock the reader and leave you wondering how she feels she can redeem herself. I would love to see a sequel to this book. I think this would make an awesome series.

My Thoughts: This is the second book in the series and while this book dealt with a different couple, I think reading the first book in the series would have helped a lot. However, by a few chapters in, I had a good idea what was going on and by the end of the book I had most everything figured out. As I stated above under genre, this is paranormal, but not what you normally think of. This dealt mainly with science and that someone has been infecting humans to change there bodies. Jesse the main male character was a football player and had an injury while playing. He then found out he had a bones disease. He volunteered to being a specimen and he was injected with something that made him grow bone. He is going to die by his body turning to bone if Dr. Liliana Carrera can't help him. She is immediately drawn to him however is hesitant since she came out of an abusive relationship. However in the beginning, she might see Jesse has angry and dangerous but she can also see that he can control it and that he might not be like her ex. However Liliana has to learn to trust him and its hard when she can sense that Jesse is lieing about something to her.

The story line in this book keeps you intrigued. As a reader you want to see everyone helped and cured. Reading this you know who the bad guys are and its one of those books that you get a big sigh of relief when the main characters figure it out. However, this book leaves you with a big cliff hanger and that slight relief you feel at the end, leaves you wishing the next book was available to pick up immediately.

I enjoyed this book and I think anyone who likes a little fantasy added in with their romance would enjoy this. Plus, you get a chance to!

A look at Blood Trinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dianna Love

I wanted to give you a look at the new book Blood Trinity by Sherrliyn Kenyon and Dianna Love. This book did not take long to read. It story line captivates you from the beginning. This is not a paranormal with vampires and werewolves, which was a but refreshing. This dealt with demons, other types of non humans, and a few demon killing humans. The book is easy to follow and figure out the lingo so to speak. Many books where authors create their own worlds, often takes awhile to learn everything and can leave some readers confused. This was not the case with Blood Trinity. One thing I also really liked was that this book takes place in Atlanta, GA and being a GA girl, I could really picture this book in my head since it had dealt with places near me.  If you are a romance reader like me, there is really no romance in this book. There are two potential romances in this book and I am at odds if I had a choice who I would have chosen for Evalle. This seems like a series where you will have to read them in order. I am assuming that book 2 is still going to deal with Evalle, because it just didn't seem like her story was over when this book ended. So I look forward to the next one, which I think comes out in 2011.

My Thoughts: I loved it! Its a good thing too since I hunted the wonderfully nice Stephanie Draven down for a chance to review this book. She was so wonderful to schedule me into her already booked tour.  I was interested in this book because it was different from anything I had read. Normally when you think paranormal, you think vampires and werewolves. This of coarse had none of that. It dealt with mythical creatures; Nymphs, vultures, gods, hydras, and so on.  It was like taking a journey into a whole other reality. It was a great escape.
Kyra could change the way she looked at any time. Many of us probably wish we could do that! She fell quickly for Marco, and I liked that. Most books deal with the fight between the two wanting to deny their feelings. Kyra recognized her feelings and she fought for them. Then again, who wouldn't if they me the hunky Marco is real life?
If your looking for something different, with a plot that will keep you engaged, along with a steamy romance, this book is perfect. To learn even more, check out my interview with Stephanie Draven HERE.

My thoughts:
I love Jennifer Crusie, can I get that on record. Then again if you have been reading me the last few weeks, you know that she is my favorite author. Anyway, this book was a lot different from her other books. She still had a mystery in it and romance. The romance was a little lacking, but the plot was so good that it didn't matter.  Andie had a passionate personality and it was a riot reading about her talking to the ghosts in the house. The children were spooky little kids, especially Alice. I had a hard time placing what age Alice was in the book and maybe that was the point. Carter was easy to place in age. North is her ex husband whom she hasn't spoken to in 10 years since Andie walked out. However, he is still hung up on her and is doing his best to not think about her.
The book is mostly a ghost story. Andie is trying to get rid of the ghosts and get them to cross to the other side so she can get the children out of the  house. The only way for her to get out of there alive with the kids is to get the ghosts gone. However, she is dealing with three ghosts who do not want to go. She is also dealing with a whole house full of people who think they know what is going on. One of the ghosts enjoys possessing some of the guests.
I liked the story and if your a Jennifer Crusie fan, you will thoroughly enjoy this fresh tale. If you like a good ghost story, this is also for you. Basically, this book is for you! And after read this try to contain your excitement for her next book that will be coming out in late October, Trust Me on This. I hope I can contain my excitement! 

Review and GIVEAWAY! Dracula In Love by Karen Essex

I liked this story. I have not read Dracula and I think I might have needed to before reading this. I got pulled into the hype of this being like the Twilight for adults. Sorry, there was no similarities when it came to being anything like Twilight.

The story itself is dark and captivating. I was drawn in from the beginning waiting to see everything that would  happen. I expected the Count to be around a lot more then he was in the book. She never once really to me seemed to be that in love with him as much as he was in love with him. I felt almost the same as the Count, that Mina is selfish. It seemed always about her. Then again, the book is in her persepective.

I say pick it up. Its a good read. It is completely different from anything paranormal you have been reading if that is your genre. I think this is even a book that someone who isn't into paranormal would enjoy. It isn't about vampires running around biting people. It is dark, mysterious and gothic.

What I thought:

This was a quick read. It is only about 145 pages. I read the e-book version. Going into this, i was expecting it to be a lot like other paranormals, and it almost started out that way. The classic vampire falls for the human girl and so on. However, it really wasn't like that. There is a human girl (Lyn), however it appears right now that Kaden is more a less trying to keep her safe, as she was spotted by Pheonix's clan and he doesn't want her killed. I will be curious to see what happens in the next book.

Kaden has a group of vampires who escaped with him, who are also not happy to have the past catching  up to them. They have werewolves who protect them, which i found rather funny. Normally the two in series are enemies, but in this series, the werewolves are protectors of vampires! 

The story ends with a big cliffhanger. I didn't realize it was over. It was one of those, where you thought, that's it, its over? It will definitely have you ready for the next one to come out to see what is going to happen.

I don't want to give away too much in this review. So, to sum it up, if you looking for an action packed, maybe a possible romance, with some modern day vampires and werewolves, this is the book for you. Review---Insatiable by Meg Cabot

Quick Summary:

The girl selected to be head writer wants to change the direction of the show to VAMPIRES. Meena Harper dreads the idea and is tired of all the media hype around vampires. 

Lucian is The Prince who comes for a visit. He immediately falls in love with Meena and she also feels the same  for him.  Until, Alaric enters her life and tells her things that she just can't believe. Vampires are real! It was her worst nightmare coming true. Even worse, someone she knows is a vampire. Even more, Alaric is a real vampire hunter!

What I Thought:

Loved it! Al though i had no idea when i downloaded this that i was going to be reading a paranormal book. Meg Cabot is not known for that, but for chick lit! I really loved how they brought in much of the hype that is in the media now about vampires. Because even though i do like a good paranormal every now and then, it really does seem like its everywhere.  And leave it to Meg Cabot to poke fun at it, and still write a paranormal book.

I am hoping there is another book after this one. It left kind of with a cliffhanger. You are left wondering which way she will go with her love interest. Right now her heart is leaning towards both men. So, if anyone knows of another one that might come out, let me know!

What did i think:

To be honest....i first read it for the title. As i said in my Its Monday post, sometimes us women are just as bad as men. I see the word virgin and was ready to see the vamp get with the virgin! Then after reading what it was about, i knew i was hooked into reading this book. 

I liked it. I had read another book by Kerrelyn Sparks probably two years ago when i went through my huge paranormal reading stage. Every now and then i pick another one up now. 

In some ways, Olivia seems just a little to easy, seeing as she is a 24 year old virgin, but maybe she was just ready to give it up. She is not someone who easily trust anyone, and even in the time she finally was intimate with Robby, she didn't fully trust him. 

Robby is a vampire who was sent on vacation due to being kidnapped are terrorized by the bad vampire, the Meloncomets.  He is filled with anger but through loving Olivia, he heals.

The book was good. It was a fairly quick read. There was mystery in it and the suspense held well. I read the e-book version to this.

Moon Rising by Laurie Bowler---Review

I was given the opportunity to review Moon Rising by Laurie Bowler.  Please check out her website HERE. 

Nessy is the main character. She has escaped from her maker Hervidor where she meets Charles and his coven of vampires. She is instantly attracted to Charles as he vows to protect her. She is special in many ways, and one of those ways is that she is the only half vampire-half human. She has never killed a human or drank human blood in her 300 years of existence. When her maker is killed, she will become human again and will forget everything from the time she was a vampire. 

She has a best friend named Hera, who is a Gulon.  A Gulon is a type of large cat that fights and can normally destroy vampires. She later learns that Hera is a cousin to her.

So, what did i think? I loved it. The author did an excellent job and there will be another in the series and i can't wait to read it. She ends the book in a way that you simply can not wait for the next one to know what is going to happen. The love story between Charles and Nessy is real and you can tell that they are eternally meant to be bound. The twists she through in were good and some i had no idea would come. I always love when there is more paranormal in something then just vampires, so bring in Gulon's, was perfect.

One thing i also enjoyed, was that there were other characters in the book, that i can't wait to see their story unwind in another book. Her characters are memorable and real.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner review

So, first off this book interested me because i thought Who in the world is Bree Tanner? Seeing that i read the whole Twilight series two years ago, i had no idea who she was. Just like Riley. Someone they keep showing for the movie and I couldn't remember who he was. So, i decided in light of the movie and to read this one, i needed to re read Eclipse. I then learned by page 500 and something who they were. Such small characters and now i know why i didn't remember them.

So onto The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, i would probably give it 3 stars. It was a short read. Which is good. If it had gone on any longer i might have dropped a star. And i mean nothing mean by that. The plot was there and it could have made for a great book if i hadn't already known that obviously Bree is going to die.

You get introduced to Bree and how she has a strong head on her shoulders. She figures out Riley and Victoria's plot fairly fast and the lies that they are telling this group of newborn vampires. There is a love interest in the book to Bree. And that would have been the part i would have loved to have read more about, if not knowing what was going to happen to Bree from Eclipse.

The book is a great companion to read if you have just finished Eclipse. That way Eclipse is fresh in your head. It isn't something i recommend if you have not read the Twilight series, or if it has been awhile. I am curious since TV is making Riley out has a bigger part of this movie, if they will tie some of this book into the movie. I will find out Friday!
