Book Hop!

This weeks question: Tell us about your favorite authors.

Jennifer Crusie all the way. I love her. She is hilarious in her writing. She writes a funny mystery which is always perfect when you need to escape from the real world. My two favorite by her right now are Welcome to Temptation and Bet me. Check them out if you are thinking of checking her out!

Jane Green is another favorite. She was introduced to me by an aunt of mine. Jane Green writes chick lit and she was the first author that i read in chick lit. She got me addicted. She is an excellent author. She really describes areas well and paints a picture of reality. Her girls aren't size 1's. She doesn't make the average reader sit there and feel fat and ugly when reading about these gorgeous blonde girls who got the guy....AGAIN! Pick up Bookends....it was good.

Those are two.....i love many more! I could write here for hours about authors i love. But then i wouldn't get any sleep tonight!

That's right, its James Patterson!!!!!! This book i gave 5 stars. I read this book in an afternoon. It was impossible to put down. It is a novel, so it isn't in a series. I hate getting books in the middle of series.
Whats it about: (taken from amazon) : The Patterson bestseller factory has turned out another high-drama thriller, this time in collaboration with Honeymoon coauthor Roughan. Kristin Burns, a New York City nanny and aspiring photographer, is devoted to the two children under her care, but her desire for their father, Michael Turnbull, leads her to a risky, torrid affair with him. Kristin's anxiety about her guilty secret is heightened by a series of frightening nightmares centering on a vision of four body bags being loaded onto gurneys in front of a prominent Manhattan hotel. Her nightmares also feature recurring encounters with dead people, including her father and the pediatrician who abused her as a child. Kristin's breathless, superficial narration doesn't generate a lot of reader sympathy or interest in figuring out the source of her macabre experiences.

Moon Rising by Laurie Bowler---Review

I was given the opportunity to review Moon Rising by Laurie Bowler.  Please check out her website HERE. 

Nessy is the main character. She has escaped from her maker Hervidor where she meets Charles and his coven of vampires. She is instantly attracted to Charles as he vows to protect her. She is special in many ways, and one of those ways is that she is the only half vampire-half human. She has never killed a human or drank human blood in her 300 years of existence. When her maker is killed, she will become human again and will forget everything from the time she was a vampire. 

She has a best friend named Hera, who is a Gulon.  A Gulon is a type of large cat that fights and can normally destroy vampires. She later learns that Hera is a cousin to her.

So, what did i think? I loved it. The author did an excellent job and there will be another in the series and i can't wait to read it. She ends the book in a way that you simply can not wait for the next one to know what is going to happen. The love story between Charles and Nessy is real and you can tell that they are eternally meant to be bound. The twists she through in were good and some i had no idea would come. I always love when there is more paranormal in something then just vampires, so bring in Gulon's, was perfect.

One thing i also enjoyed, was that there were other characters in the book, that i can't wait to see their story unwind in another book. Her characters are memorable and real.

Book Buyers Anonymous

I am joining in on the book buyers anonymous. Mainly because i am feeling overwelhmed! In the past 2 weeks i have bought way to many books!!! 5 books at the thrift shop, 7 book (25 cents each) at the library, 2 books with a coupon i had for Abebooks.com, 1 book from booksneeze to review (free), and finally the new Jane Green Book with a borders gift card i had. OK, i myself might have spent $10 out of pocket for 16 books! Yikes.....see the number is crazy. And this is not to mention the amount of E-books i have on my computer to read. So, i think it is time i join the group that is created for us with our addictions. So, who is the lovely blogger hosting this, its 25HourBooks. Go link up if you too think you have a problem!

So, I am not going to step foot into a book store, even browse the racks at the library or anything until the overwelming number (yes there are more then 16) on my TBR list! This could take me a few months, but i am staying away!!! Please help me and I will  help you!

Its Monday, What are you Reading?

 Its Monday and time to hop over to One Persons Journey to find out what everyone read last week.  It was a good week last week. The kids let me read and get the house clean. 4 books last week.




What I Read:

• Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer.   It was good. It was a good reread. The movie did a great job with this book.
• The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer. I was not crazy about this. Review is posted. I am glad however i read it, because there were parts taken from it and put into the movie Eclipse. I agree with several of my commenters to that review, and novella of Leah would have been 10x better. Stephenie...there is an idea...just in case by chance you read this!
• Hurricane Bay by Heather Graham. And old one by her, but her at her finest. That was a good mystery thriller. I guessed a lot though the book on who was the murderer. 5 stars!
• The Reliable Wife by Robert Gooldrick. I just posted a review. I wanted to love it. I did like it. It was strange and differant. Defiently worth the read i think.

Current read : Poor Little B**** Girl by Jackie Collins. My first book by her.

What else this week: No idea...whatever strikes the mood i guess.

A Reliable Wife--Review

 A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. This book takes you back to 1907. A man, Ralph Truitt has lost much in his life. He puts an ad out to find a reliable wife. In return, he gets Catherine Land.  She comes with the intention to poison him and kill him. He wants a wife to help him find his long lost son. The story has many twists and turns and of coarse the two end up in love with one another.

So what did I think? I was so excited about this book. I had read its description and kept putting it in monthly for out book club pick. It never got chosen though. I think i put a lot of hype into it. The book was good, but it was also a bit of a let down. I guess i had expected some of the twists in the book not to have been so predictable. I think the author did a good job helping you feel the way each character felt with this being 3rd person. The author write a ton about sex and the way it goes through these guys mind. Which in the beginning, you read as the main character is imagining people in their own houses in the act. Some of that was a little strange.

I give the book 3 stars.

It was a good weekend read. It wasn't the best love story, but it was different. That's really all i can say. So if you looking to get lost in a different kind of story, this is your book. So I do recommend it, just not if your wanting a sappy love story.
