Regression - On Sale until 11/11 (Book One: Infinion Series)Publication Date: June 29 2009
Pages: 352
Series: Book 1 of Infinion Series
Genre: Sci-Fi
My Rating:

Book Summary: Fourteen-year-old Adya Jordan swears that before her head injury she was a forty-year-old mother of six. Is she going crazy, or did she really live through an entirely different life? 1985 is nothing like she remembers, although her first day of high school certainly is! A typical girl with atypical genes, Adya tries to recapture her old life, hiding her growing conviction that she has done this before. Memories of the man she loved and a family she adored haunt her, even though her future husband doesn’t even know she exists. Accidentally discovering the secretive Three Eleven Corporation might know more about her situation than she does, she is convinced the twenty-eight men heading up the company are responsible for the changes in her world. Adya finds her way into their ranks, journeying to the tropical island headquarters to begin an orientation into their prestigious internship program. The Three Eleven Company controls the development and distribution of Twenty-first Century technology brought with them from the future. Charged with the task of preparing the world for an impending disaster, each member of the team uses his scientific background to create a solution for a problem the planet does not know it is facing. They don’t have time to deal with a feisty young girl poking around. Banished to the frozen Canadian Shield for asking too many questions of CEO Abraham Fairfield, Adya finds the men in the underground city of Sanctum are interested in more than just her genes as they search for the answer to her presence in the timeline. In the end, Adya encounters a choice no mother should ever face: save her children…or everyone else

My Thoughts: This book draws you in from the beginning. For me is was different from most anything I had really read. A 40 yr old mom wakes up as her 14 year old self. That alone draws your attention. Adya is of coarse a very mature 14 year old and it was weird that her parents didn't quite pick up on it after Adya came out of her coma. No one believed she had regressed. However, early on Adya finds where she is suppose to go and its with a corporation called Three Eleven, which basically stems from the date 11/11/11. In this book, this is the date that something is going to happen to man kind. Adya and 26 men are suppose to figure out what it is they are suppose to do to save man kind. The 26 men have also regressed are on on what they call their second timeline. Seeing as though this book is set in the 1980's, these men were able to recreate a lot of the technology that we have nowadays. This book really doesn't take you back to the 80's. It felt a lot like reading a book set in modern time, except for when Adya first woke up as a 14 year old. Her parents where very lenient with her and letting her go out. That just doesn't happen now a days.

This book being a sci-fi genre book, I think its a great book for someone curious about this genre. It wasn't too over to top but it was definitely different. It was a very enjoyable read and I look forward to finding the second book in the series Evolussion. The third book in the series is set to be released on 11/11/11. It will also be added to my TBR read list to look for in the future.

My only real complaint about this book, was that there were typos in this book. This is not the authors fault of coarse. It is one of those types of typos where is the word it misspelled once, it is through the whole book. Such as fetus in the book was spelt feotus during the entire book. So, if you can look past the few typos, then this book will be enjoyable.

I found this interesting having recently had a regression session of my own, one that anserwed some question and left many knew ones. The whole idea of differant lives and differant time scales is one of interest also perhaps how writers have their stories taken over by characters, as if they are from another world telling a story in this one. The book sounds really interesting and I am going to attempt to get the author on my radio show... Thank you so much for the great review... Barry

This is one I am willing to try, I am very intrigued.

Everyone is bringing up the editing of the book.

Hello Rebecca, thank you so much for the review. I am thrilled you enjoyed the book, but would like to mention that Canadian spelling (I am Canadian, and the book is published in Canada) is different than US spelling, so although the words might look wrong to a US audience, they are actually correct! You also recieved a first printing short run edition, of which there are no copies left, so I think any other errors were corrected for the current copies available to purchase.

I hope you enjoy Evolussion, and will be sure to tag an advance reader copy of Revolussion for you in 2011!

Barry, thanks for the invite, I'll get back to you via email. And, you won't have trouble with the spelling since you're from the UK, LOL!

I found Regression by accident and couldn't put it down...then tracked down Evolussion and proceeded to sink myself into it. Now its 2:30 in the morning and I'm on my cellphone hoping to find the 'conclussion'...I think the books have their own pheromone. I love 'em!!
