My Thoughts: This book is a short historical western romance. Amanda has been abandoned by her husband and plans to never remarry. She runs a local saloon and she can definitely take care of herself. She has several suitors of men who would like to marry her, though none make the cut for her. Emery Cobbs rolls into town and throws her life upside down. Emery loves her before meeting her since he knew her late husband William (Bill). He wants to marry her from the moment he meets her. Amanda isn't so sure. This book is a very quick read and can almost be read in one sitting. In such a short book, a lot is packed into it, which helps keep you wanting to read. Amanda is a likable character to the reader, however she may not be to the towns people with her love of pointing a gun at folks all the time. She has fair reasons to resist Emery. She still has hope that Bill will come back into town and be with her again, however Emery helps her understand that this isn't going to happen. Emery's character was a little confusing. I think if this has been a longer story I might have understood him a little more. He jumped back and forth in his thoughts which was a little confusing to me as a reader. One moment he was thinking he was madly in love with Amanda and then next he was thinking about the treasure and if he should take the treasure and leave without looking back. Other then that, this book was an excellent read.  I think for anyone who likes a good western, this is a great option for them. It is packed full of love and action and will leave you feeling satisfied.

My Thoughts:  I found this book to be quite boring unfortunately. Riley, the main female character was a boring character to me. She had no personality and I kept wondering how the hunky and adventurous Zane could have been at all interested in her, besides for her child. Summer was an adorable girl and reading about her made the story fun. It was obvious that Zane was interested in Riley however I never really felt Riley's attraction back to Zane. She never expressed it even to herself much, in my opinion. Her thoughts were repeated a lot in the book to where I almost wanted to just skim to get through some parts. When finally learning of Riley's secret near the end of the book, I had hoped it would add a little spice, but I was even disappointed in her secret. 


The story line itself was good. I feel like if the character of Riley was developed a little bit more she would have been interesting. The two characters had the usual battle of fighting their emotions, which is always good. Zane had the usual, man doesn't want to settle down thing, which is always nice to read about them being taken down by love. Riley, I really didn't get why she wasn't wanting a relationship. The author stated a reason, but I just felt it could have been developed more. Riley needed more backbone, especially being a single mother. She easily backed down to confrontation. Maybe this was how she was meant to come across, but for me, I needed more.

My Thoughts: I picked this book up at my local used  book store a few months ago after I had read my first "newer" Lisa Gardner book. I had only read books from her DD Warren series that deals with the book in mainly a police perspective. This book is different from that and I liked it. This book mainly deals from either Tess's point on view or the mercenaries view, J.T. We get to see some from Jim Beckett's point of view also, which was nice.  This book was good. It was an easy read. I think in some ways it was a bit too predictable, however it still reeled you in and  had you on the edge of your seat waiting for the psychopath Jim Beckett to be caught. Gardner did an awesome job with this character. You can tell she really did her research. This is another one of those books, where if too much is told, then it will ruin the book. If thriller is your genre and you are a Lisa Gardner fa, check out the local used books stores for this one. You won't be sorry.
