Book Blurb:  All Austin Lanier wants is to sell her inherited watermelon farm, slip on her stilettos and run back to corporate America. Until the drop dead sexy cowboy next door, Rye O'Donnell, decides he'll only take the farm if he can get the fiery woman who owns it as part of the deal.

My Thoughts: Sitting down with this book, I was ready to dive it. I enjoy all of Carolyn Brown's books and work. This book was no exception. We meet Austin who is a city girl who has come to sell her deceased grandmothers land. She has every intention of doing this, even as she discovers all the hidden treasures around the farm. One being a watermelon wine business and one being Rye, a hunk of a man living right across the street, however he always seems to be over at her place. Austin is skeptical if he is really into her, or if this man just wants to buy her land and is sucking up to her so she sells to him. Austin ends up finding just what she is looking for, in a place she never expects.

I think any Carolyn Brown fan will be happy to dive into this book. This is the first book in her new series and I can't wait to read the rest. If you wondering why I rated this a 3, even though I really enjoyed the book, I have to admit I found this book a bit predictable, however still very enjoyable, so I still fully recommend this book to anyone who enjoys western romance or even contemporary romance since this book borders it.

Book Blurb: Ann Marie needs a horse trainer to ready her prized stallion to run for the money. When hunky horseman Travis Brooks answers her ad, she knows he’s the man for the job. But is she willing to let go of her husband’s memory and open up her heart to Travis?
Travis Brooks knows horses. But women? He can take ‘em or leave ‘em—mostly leave ‘em—especially since his divorce. Ann Marie pushes all his buttons and he’s not quite sure what to do with her. Can a stubborn horseman and one feisty rancher find love in the heat of the Texas Plains?

My Thoughts:  Sandy Sullivan is a new author for me and I loved her. She writes beautifuly and really knows how to tell a story. I found myself really feeling like I was there.I enjoyed both main characters in this story, especially Travis. He was your typical male who thought he never deserved to be loved again after his last wife cheated on him and his son passed away. Ann Marie who also lost her husband, is a character a reader easily was able to connect too. She is very real with herself about her feelings and to Travis. This story is not only a romance, there is more to it. There are several underlying plots that keep the reader busy in the background as the reader also visions these two falling in love.

I very much enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone who likes a good romance and doesn't mind a little extra spice. The intimate scenes were not over the top and we typical scenes, no over the top make you blush scenes. I would definitely check this one out to keep yourself entertained this summer.

Book Blurb: Miss Rodeo Wyoming Jodie Bryce is back from the big city to find that her childhood friend Teague Treadwell's rugged cowboy charm never looked better. But Teague thinks Jodie's success lifted her out of his reach, and now he's got to shed his bad boy image to be worthy of the girl next door.

My Thoughts: Once you start it, you can't put it down. Joanne Kennedy writes a very fun and catchy story that as a reader you easily get swept into. She plants seeds in your head in the beginning of the book and you could not wait to see how it plays out. Yes, she makes you wait until the last chapter to see how that seed she plants plays out. There were so interesting characters in this book. This is just an all around great book. The romance is very clean in this book, she is a shut the door kind of author.

Onto the two main characters in this book, Jodi and Teague. I always enjoy a story where it is two old flames from years ago who can not get past one another and end up in one another's life again. Teague is an all out cowboy and is still very interested in Jodi from the moment she comes back in town. Jodi is unsure, but finds that she is not able to fight what her heart truly wants. Of coarse, there is Courtney who likes to get in between them, since she wants Teague to be her boyfriend.

I think almost anyone who likes romance is going to like this book. As much as I read, it really takes a lot for a novel now to completely sweep me away and this one did so I strongly recommend this book. If anyone has been curious about the western romance genre, I think this book is excellent to get yourself started.

Tyler by C.H. Admirand

Tyler (The Secret Life of Cowboys)
Publication Date: March 1, 2011
Genre: Western Romance
Series: Secret Life of Cowboys
My Rating:

Book Blurb: Faced with a mountain of bills, rancher Tyler Garahan takes a night job with a lot of trepidation. But being a male performer at a strip club does come with at least one beautiful compensation-and feisty red-haired bookkeeper Emily Langley seems to understand Tyler even better than he understands himself.

My Thoughts: This book is full of heat and you will need a fan to keep yourself cool. Tyler is one hot cowboy who has taken up helping his family business by stripping at The Lucky Star. Yes, that's right, he's a stripped and a hot one at that. The author does a great job drawing the reader into this story and will leave you not wanting to put this book down. When the book is no longer in your hands, you are wishing it was. This is a fast read. There is a slight mystery in it. It has a lot of comic parts. The chemistry between Emily and Tyler leaps off the pages and you love reading about the two of them as they fall deep in love. One thing I really liked about this story was there was no struggle between the two as far as falling in love. No one was resisting it. They both wanted it and enjoyed taking the plunge together. As a reader, you will enjoy taking the journey with them. This is one of those books, when it ends, you wish you had another in your hand by this author. Her writing is amazing. Even if western romance is not your typical romance genre, I think this is one that you will actually enjoy. The dialect in this book is very easy to follow and read and is not over the top with southern slang.

Best of all, Monday I will have a guest post from this author. I am also being given the opportunity to giveaway two copies of this book. I know you will enjoy this book, so please stop back by on Monday for your chance to win a copy of this book and read a guest post from C.H. Admirand.

Hell Yeah! by Carolyn Brown

Hell, Yeah
Publication Date: August 2, 2010
Genre: Western Romance
Series: Honky Tonk #2
Format I Read: E-book

Other reviews from this author: I Love This Bar

Book Blurb: When Cathy O-Dell buys the Honky Tonk, the nights of cowboys and country tunes come together to create the home she-s always wanted. Then in walks a ruggedly handsome oil man who tempts her to trade in the happiness she-s found at the Honky Tonk for a life on the road with him- He lives the good life- Gorgeous and rich, Travis Henry travels the country unearthing oil wells and then moving on. Then the beautiful blue-eyed new owner of the Honky Tonk beer joint becomes his best friend and so much more. When his job is done in Texas, how is he ever going to hit the road without her?

My Thoughts:  This is book 2 in the Honky Tonk Series. I am in fact enjoying the series. I liked this book alright. It wasn't quite as catching as the first one, but I did still enjoy it. The sizzle was not rolling off the pages, however I am not going to let that stop me from continuing the series. I think what threw me the most with this book was Cathy did not seem anything like she did in book one. She seemed to almost have a personality switch, so that threw me. She was not the type that came across modest in book one or to be a prude. However in Hell Yeah, she seemed that way. Yes, her heart was broken however as much as she forced Daisy in book one towards romabce, Cathy wasn't quite ready herself. Now, if you read this book as a standalone, I think it makes a great book. I just felt she was off. There is a lot of action in the book with some mystery too. The book sets up well for the next book in the series, which I assume as to do with Larissa. I am looking forward to hopefully starting it soon. This is a fun series, and I definitely recommend it and think anyone who enjoys western romance, is going to enjoy this book.

I Love This Bar by Carolyn Brown

I Love This Bar
Publication Date: June 1 2010
Genre: Western Romance
Series: Honky Tonky (#1)
Add to your Goodreads TBR list
My Rating:

Book Summary: Funny, sexy, and sure to appeal to the huge audience of country music fans, this new trilogy features the Honky Tonk beer joint and its succession of lovelorn owners. Serving two counties, one wet and one dry, the Honky Tonk is the gathering place for every hothead, thirsty rancher, and lusty lady looking for a good time. Owner Daisy O'Dell vows she'll run the place until they drag her cold dead body through the swinging doors. That is, until the day Jarod McElroy walks in, looking for a cold drink and a moment's peace from his ornery Uncle Emmitt. The minute Jarod sees Daisy, with her hot looks and smart mouth; he knows he's met not only his own match, but Uncle Emmitt's as well. Now, if only he can convince her to come out from behind that bar and come on home with him-

My Thoughts:  I enjoyed this book for the most part. I don't think the genre Western Romance if for me, however I am hooked on the series and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The story line was good and did keep me interested. It was a very clean romance book. Its one of those where the chemistry is there between the characters but the author closes the door and you are left out like a dog in the rain. However, that is ok. I like to know a little more then was let on, but I can still enjoy a book either way. I was not crazy about how people in the book were so stereo typical. Everyone had a problem with Daisy being a bartender, including Jarod in he beginning. However learning that she is also a vet tech changes every ones opinion. I think knowing she owns the Honky Tonk and that its an well going business should have been enough to impress anyone. I am hoping that in the next book, the characters aren't so judgemental. I also hope by the end of the series all the Walter boys are married off. Especially Billy Bob. He had his heart quite broken in this one.

Review: Unlawful Hearts by Suzi Goode

Unlawful HeartsPublication date: October 16th 2010
Genre: Historical Western Romance
Format: e-book
My Rating:

Summary: (Goodreads) Dead or Alive?

1871. Courageous Amanda Bodreaux has no idea if her secretive husband is dead or alive. He's run off leaving her to fight in an aggressive man's world with a pistol in her dainty hand. When a strikingly handsome and mysterious man shows up needing a wife, Amanda figures his problems, whatever they might be, aren't hers. How wrong can a woman be?
Emery Cobbs knows even before his arrival in Water Springs, Missouri, that Amanda is his problem. And more. She is prettier and pricklier than a man has a right to lay eyes on, and she must also know the location of the diamonds her irresponsible husband squirreled away. With a gun pointed at his head, Emery doesn't have many options left.
Will he marry Amanda for the diamonds or will he die in the process? At her hands?

My Thoughts: This book is a short historical western romance. Amanda has been abandoned by her husband and plans to never remarry. She runs a local saloon and she can definitely take care of herself. She has several suitors of men who would like to marry her, though none make the cut for her. Emery Cobbs rolls into town and throws her life upside down. Emery loves her before meeting her since he knew her late husband William (Bill). He wants to marry her from the moment he meets her. Amanda isn't so sure. This book is a very quick read and can almost be read in one sitting. In such a short book, a lot is packed into it, which helps keep you wanting to read. Amanda is a likable character to the reader, however she may not be to the towns people with her love of pointing a gun at folks all the time. She has fair reasons to resist Emery. She still has hope that Bill will come back into town and be with her again, however Emery helps her understand that this isn't going to happen. Emery's character was a little confusing. I think if this has been a longer story I might have understood him a little more. He jumped back and forth in his thoughts which was a little confusing to me as a reader. One moment he was thinking he was madly in love with Amanda and then next he was thinking about the treasure and if he should take the treasure and leave without looking back. Other then that, this book was an excellent read.  I think for anyone who likes a good western, this is a great option for them. It is packed full of love and action and will leave you feeling satisfied.

(Review & Giveaway) Montana Glory by R.C.Ryan

Montana GloryPublication Date: November 1st 2010
Genre: Western Romanace
Pages: 357
Series: 3rd and final. (Montana Destiny, Montana Legacy)
My Rating:

Summary: (Goodreads) The last thing in the world Zane McCord wants is a wife. But after returning home to the family ranch in Montana to help his cousins search for the lost treasure that is their legacy, Zane can't help notice that love and marriage seem to be contagious. Both his cousins have succumbed, but he refuses. Determined to stay a bachelor till he dies, Zane wants to devote his time to filming documentaries and taking care of the ranch...and then Riley Mason walks into his life.
The last thing on Riley Mason's mind is romance. Sent to the McCord ranch to save the family's accounting problems, she only wants to impress her firm in Helena and be on her way. Life as a single mother isn't easy and she needs to impress her bosses for a raise. But when Zane McCord opens the door, her breath catches in her throat and a desire she's never experienced before takes over her. When the McCords insist that she and her daughter, Summer stay at the ranch, she's forced to give in and before long, she's pulled into their search for the long lost treasure. But she absolutely draws the line at getting involved with Zane McCord, playboy and heartbreaker extraordinaire.
But as they all get closer to finding Coot's lost treasure, a dangerous series of accidents target Riley and her daughter Summer. Can Zane keep her safe while trying to win her heart?

My Thoughts:  I found this book to be quite boring unfortunately. Riley, the main female character was a boring character to me. She had no personality and I kept wondering how the hunky and adventurous Zane could have been at all interested in her, besides for her child. Summer was an adorable girl and reading about her made the story fun. It was obvious that Zane was interested in Riley however I never really felt Riley's attraction back to Zane. She never expressed it even to herself much, in my opinion. Her thoughts were repeated a lot in the book to where I almost wanted to just skim to get through some parts. When finally learning of Riley's secret near the end of the book, I had hoped it would add a little spice, but I was even disappointed in her secret.

The story line itself was good. I feel like if the character of Riley was developed a little bit more she would have been interesting. The two characters had the usual battle of fighting their emotions, which is always good. Zane had the usual, man doesn't want to settle down thing, which is always nice to read about them being taken down by love. Riley, I really didn't get why she wasn't wanting a relationship. The author stated a reason, but I just felt it could have been developed more. Riley needed more backbone, especially being a single mother. She easily backed down to confrontation. Maybe this was how she was meant to come across, but for me, I needed more.

The Wicked West by Victoria Dahl

The Wicked West
Publication Date: May 27th 2009
Genre: Erotica (short story)
E-Book Only
My Rating:

Summary: (Goodreads) When Lily Anders gave up her proper English roots to settle in the Wild West, she didn't dare hope that she'd meet someone who shared her own wicked bedroom secrets. But the virtuous Sheriff Hale has never told anyone about his shocking desires. Will he give in to the surprising temptation of the young widow?

My Thoughts: I love Victoria Dahl as my faithful readers know. She writes excellent and her books are already sizzling. So, I saw this book on her website and thought I would give it a try. Wow, this book was HOT! There were 7 chapters total (I think) and each chapter was jammed pack with sex! Hey, this is an erotica.  The Sheriff's wife left him because he was too rough and he feels like he can't ever be himself. Lily moves in next door and she senses who he really is and she shared the same passion as him. Only Sheriff Hale fights it, because he thinks that no woman can handle him. However, Lily is there to show him he is wrong.
Over all, this was a good book. It was a very quick read. Almost anything you can imagine is in this book, so go on and buy it, you know you want to!
