Chasing Her Trail by Keri Ford

Publication Date: November 9, 2011
Genre: Erotic Contemporary Romance
Heat Level: R
Format: E-Book
Series: Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas (#6)

Blurb: Jessie McBride barely survived the unexpected death of her loving parents. Forced to fend for herself with few people to depend on while raising her younger cousin, Jessie learned to be self-sufficient. She kept a few friends close and pushed the rest of the world away, along with that helpless, dependent girl she was once. Been there, done that, never again.

It works until Henry Green enters her life, with sentimental tales of his grandpa and family. Jessie is drawn in as Henry strives to take care of the man who raised him. But while Henry is putting things in place for his grandpa to retire, his well-intended controlling ways are smothering Jessie.

Can Henry’s invitation back to life and love tempt Jessie to drop the emotional wall, or will Henry give up on chasing the girl she once was?

My Thoughts: This is the last of the Apple Trail series that many of us have fallen in love with. We started with Through The Walls and have not finished with Chasing Her Trail. I have read each of them and enjoyed each very much. But, it isn't like Keri Ford is done, nope she already has another series all lined up for us as we are in withdrawal from this one.

In Chasing Her Trail, Jessie finally gets her turn. Jessie has done everything herself for a very long time and plans to continue. She doesn't take crap from anyone. She has never been told what to do -- until Henry comes to town. Henry comes looking for land to build a house on for his father, but he finds a whole more. Henry is a fixer and he wants to fix Jessie, but she doesn't make it easy. This is a fun little romance as we watch these two battle it out before they finally just give in to what their feeling. While I read this I really just wanted to bop them each across the head and have my own talking to with them.

And since this is the last book, Keri Ford tied it all together in a neat little bow. She gave us updates on them all and it was nice to see all twelve characters together at one time and see how they interacted.

Don't miss this one!

Keri Ford: Apple Trail - Small Town and Sexy!

I'm very excited to have Keri Ford on the blog today. The last book (#6) in the Apple Trail Series just released. But don't worry, Keri has another series already lined up for her eager followers. Be sure to visit her blog at  www.keriford.com to get a sneak peak at the HOT book covers.

If your a fan of hers or even if you haven't read one (which is just crazy), sit back and enjoy this post as she rounds up the series. Best of all, Keri is offering a giveaway to a lucky commenter.

Small Town And Sexy!

When I started the Apple Trail series, I envisioned a small town like mine. While Apple Trail is way smaller (2-3k) than my home town (18k), I mirrored the town square off my home town. Take the tiny picture of the courthouse here for example. Look familiar? I loosely based Apple Trail’s courthouse from Making Her Nights off it. I spoke of the trees, the white building and long sad eyes. I added the engraved apples on the building. And the vulture. Or maybe the vulture. I’m sure there’s been a couple those around our court house too. Lord knows they’re flying over my house enough (No one dead here birds!).

But it’s the town shops along the square that brings Henry, hero of Chasing Her Trail, to Apple Trail and to the heroine, Jessie. Henry’s grandfather raised him and his grandfather was raised in a small town, with a small square just like this one.One with trees along the sidewalk, overhang things and shops next to one another. In Apple Trail there’s men drinking coffee at a picnic table outside a diner during the day and a beauty parlor a couple shops over where you know the women gather.

Apple Trail’s town square is very contained. If you read In The Hay, you got to ride around with the hero as he drove past the courthouse, the few shops and then…that’s pretty much it before he entered the surrounding neighborhood. Beyond that are the train tracks and fields (a big grin here. For those who’ve read In The Hay, you know why I’m grinning).

If you were flying overhead and looked down, you’d see Riley Hamilton’s farm along one side (On The Fence) and the town square in the center. The Iverson property would be just outside of town and wrapping around behind it. Beyond that you’d find Jessie’s land and Mike and Tiffany next to her.

The town population is small. The land often sprawling at times. And the people like to get dirty in their backyards when no one is looking.

Leave me a comment and be entered for a chance to win your pick of any of the Apple Trail stories!

Making Her Nights by Keri Ford

Making Her Nights (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)
Publication Date: June 20, 2011
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ Erotica novella
Series: Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas #4 (can be read alone)

My Rating:

Book Blurb: Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail. No one gives him more trouble than a certain blonde. While her stunts are frustrating to deal with, it’s the constant way she keeps him trapped in knots.
Tiffany McBride has a reputation for being a trouble maker. She’s been betting and causing trouble since her parents died when she was a teenager. What looks like a young woman sewing her oats, it’s actually desperate measures to gamble for extra money to put food on the table.
When these two acknowledge their attraction, sparks fly…that is if Mike’s public position can survive Tiffany’s frowned upon reputation.

My Thoughts: I have been anxiously awaiting to get my hands on this book. I have been so lucky to have been given the chance to read each book Keri Ford has written for this series. This one was no let down either. In my weeks of waiting and finally loading it on my e-reader, then finally getting lost in it, I was satisfied. In fact, Keri's humor continues to grow. While reading this book, I spit my coke out. Keri knows how to weave a tale of two characters so hot for one another and then brings you to the point of falling on the floor laughing.

In this book, Mike gets his turn. In past books, Mike has been there in the background since he is police chief of this small town. One girl has driven him crazy for years, and she happens to be one of those who causes the most trouble, Tiffany McBride. Mike is a very controlled man, who does everything by the book. Tiffany breaks him down. I do have to say, I saw a side of him I hadn't expected in the intimate scenes. However, I am not giving that away, just like I am not giving away what make me spit my coke out.

I believe the next book in this series will be out in August. I am super excited about this one since the main girls name is Rebecca. I can't see what kind of trouble she gets herself into, especially since there was a small excerpt in the back of this book.

Author Keri Ford: Telling Us About Writing and Mothering

Making Her Nights (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)It is no news that Beck's Book Picks is a huge fan of author Keri Ford. In case you didn't know, she has a new book out called Making Her Nights. This is book 4 in her Apple Trails Series.

Sit back and relax and enjoy this post on how Keri, a stay at home mom, finds the time to write while raising her son who is currently 4.

Writing and Mothering – A Balancing Act

When I got pregnant, I was already writing for a year or more, was working with the newsletter for one my local writing groups and the head editor suggested I do an article on parenting and kids. A sort of what I expect and tips to balance. She suggested I contact a few authors who had kids for their opinion and for what system they do.
So I did! And I *wish* I still had that article, but I have no idea where it is. Why I don’t remember what sources said what specific thing, I do remember their advice.

1-This is my job. And by doing my job, I’m teaching my son dedication to what I love. He won’t grasp this concept at a young age, but when he’s older, he’ll get it.

My son just turned four, so he’s not getting the dedication, but he is understanding we make money when we work. And we can’t go back to see Mickey Mouse until we make a lot more money. J He started telling me this past week that he would sword fight on the wii and for me to just stay there and work to make money for Mickey Mouse.

2-Set a schedule so he knows what’s going on.

I admit…I slack so hard at this, but we try! My son is just not a schedule kind of kid. Even as an infant, I couldn’t maintain an eat at this hour, stay awake, nap at this hour. The only thing I could count on was nightly bedtime. So, I adjusted my schedule around his needs.
Now that he’s older, I get longer stretches at the computer. Sometimes I work harder in the mornings, sometimes its afternoons. My boy has been brought up knowing while mommy works, it’s time to entertain himself and his imagination is just off the hook for it. I hear him constantly going on “pirate adventures” or “saving the world” with his toys.
Our strongest schedule now is snacks at three and then outside time if he wants after that.
Before he started preschool, we would take ten to fifteen minutes after breakfast to learn our letters. Anything longer and he was too restless and bored with it. Now that he’s writing, I want to get in the habit to practice tracing his letters and basic math so he doesn’t lose those skills over summer.

3-One of the authors told me they would set a blanket up on the floor by their feet with toys so they were nearby.

I used to have a play room and my computer was in there…then the playroom, well, I’m not sure what happened to it. There’s no toys in there anymore. Now Son mostly plays in the living room. That’s where my computer is. I’m right there where I can constantly work through the day while still keeping my eye on him. If he’s doing something he’s proud of, he can holler at me and I can see from my desk, look, then get back where I was on my latest story. I’m not the type of writer who can get lost in my story and forget the world around me.
It can be tough to be jerked in and out, but in the end, it gets a lot of the job done. This is why you find me on twitter pretty much all day long.

It’s all a balancing act. I give a little. He gives a little and we’re in a rhythm that works for us. Some days are better than others. We’re not perfect, that’s for sure. My house suffers for it because there are toys everywhere. I’ve done everything I know to teach son to put toys away after he’s done playing with them, but he just hasn’t grasped that. Maybe one day we’ll figure that out!

Thanks for having me out today Rebecca!

Keri Ford's New Release

Making Her Nights (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)
I am a huge fan of Keri Ford. So far I have read everything by her, well except for this new one, but believe me, I will read it So, I wanted to take a moment to let fellow readers of mine know she has a new book out. This book also goes along with her Uninhibited In Apple Trails series.

Here is a blurb about this book:
Chief Deputy Mike Gabel is the man in charge in Apple Trail.

So be sure to check your favorite place to buy e-books for this one. Even though I haven't read it yet, well it just sounds appetizing anyway. Be sure to look for a review soon on here.

My Rating:

Book Blurb: It's been a White Picket Fence life for Nicolette. Charming, but tedious. She graduated high school, raring to go. Nothing is ever as easy as it seems though. The fear of being stuck in a rut, living a dull day-to-day life keeps Nicolette from settling on a career, despite her six years of college. When the chance arrives for her to house sit, she takes opportunity by the horns for a little playtime. She would experience life and find something that would make her happy.
Drew knows exactly what he wants. To run the family construction business. Too bad his dad doesn't think he's ready. They make a deal. Drew will help his cousin put up a new fence and after he's learned hard work, the construction business is his. Drew's not sure learning how to string fence line together will see him suitable for a career of paper pushing, but he'll do it.
When Drew meets the wanna-be-free-spirited Nicolette, his determined thoughts of what he's always worked for begins to sway. Nicolette's finding the fun in life. But their relationship is temporary. A week tops.

My Thoughts: I follow Keri Ford on twitter and I enjoyed reading her tweets about this book as she wrote it. I had a small idea what the book was about and I could not wait to get my hands on it. I loved it and it was easily read on one sitting. One reason I love Keri's work so much is that you get a short novella to read but it reads like a 400 page book. She writes so well and you get so involved in each her story. This book was no exception. Nicolette is the main character and she is very innocent. Think of a girl who has only lived her life by being told what to do by every person and has never experienced anything on her own. Her parents sheltered her, her boyfriends told her what to do, and friends. She finally leaves for a week to pet sit and she has to think for herself. She wants to have fun this week. Drew is the perfect man for this. He is also only in town one week. The two think they are getting involved in a one week fling, but of coarse they find themselves in love. I  was drawn to Nicolette as a character. I wanted to take her under my wing and show her the ways. Drew felt the same way and I think he just let her experience life and let her make decisions. This is a wonderful romance story and the intimate scenes don't leave us with anything to wonder and leave us craving pineapple!

I recommend this book to any romance reader. As always, this is erotica, but Keri write classy erotica. She is the perfect author for anyone who has every wondered just what erotica is.

Keri Ford: Interview and Giveaway!

I am so excited today to have Keri Ford on the blog. I love her and I am itching to get my hands on her newest novel that is due out on the 23rd of this month (April), In The Hay. This is the third book in her Apple Trail series. I have been following her on Twitter and this one sounds like it is going to be another hit! Best of all, Keri is going to give you an opportunity to win a copy of her new book in E-book format. So, this book is available to anyone who likes e-books and has an e-mail address.

So, let's get on with this interview with this very talented writer.

Welcome Keri, I am so glad to have you on the blog today.

Thanks for having me!

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m just a southern, country girl at heart, having a few adventures and fun through my writing. I married my high school sweetheart and we have a four year old boy who keeps me super busy.

When you got word Through The Wall was going to publish, what was that feeling like?

Through the Wall (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)Oh, man. Just this overwhelming sense of accomplishment and excitement. I had written for five years before I sold Through The Wall, so it was just thrilling to have finally done that. I could say, “I’m here now. I’ve done it. I’m not going anywhere”

Tell us a little about the first two books in the Apple Trails series in your words?

Through The Wall is like phone sex…only through apartment walls. Since they’re so close physically, the action through the wall doesn’t last long before one of them starts knocking. It’s a short friends-to-lovers story that I had such a blast writing. It’s a little snack giving the reader what the tone of the Uninhibited series is like.

On The Fence (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)On The Fence has former best friends who’ve been separated for a few years finding each other again. As they rediscover their relationship, they see a whole lot has changed about the other! In fact, they pretty much reverse roles. In high school where he was fun and outgoing and she was more reserved, she’s now the one pushing him. It was a lot of fun to let them wear each other’s “shoes”.

Your newest book is In The Hay, tell us a little about this one.

Ohhh….In The Hay turned out to be my favorite so far. Drew and Nicolette are so playful and just had fun with one another. They were both such a joy to write and bring to life. I hope the reader sees the fun these two have together and remember a bit of that old first time falling in love feeling. Here’s a blurb:

….two strangers visiting Apple Trail. When they get together will they put in roots in this small town or go back to their lives?

In The Hay (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)It’s been a White Picket Fence life for Nicolette. Charming, but tedious. She graduated high school, raring to go. Nothing is ever as easy as it seems though. The fear of being stuck in a rut, living a dull day-to-day life keeps Nicolette from settling on a career, despite her six years of college. When the chance arrives for her to housesit, she takes opportunity by the horns for a little playtime. She would experience life and find something that would make her happy.
Drew knows exactly what he wants. To run the family construction business. Too bad his dad doesn’t think he’s ready. They make a deal. Drew will help his cousin put up a new fence and after he’s learned hard work, the construction business is his. Drew’s not sure learning how to string fence line together will see him suitable for a career of paper pushing, but he’ll do it.
When Drew meets the wanna-be-free-spirited Nicolette, his determined thoughts of what he’s always worked for begins to sway. Nicolette’s finding the fun in life. But their relationship is temporary. A week tops.

What do we have to look forward to in terms of new books from you?

More Apple Trail! Making Her Nights, Satisfying Her Tastes, and Chasing Her Trail are all up next. They’ll continue to release every other month just like WALL, FENCE and HAY. While the first three in the series touch more on the tone of the series, these three dig a little deeper on the town. But don’t worry! That same sexy, sensual story will still be there. I’m really excited about them as we get into a bit of that fun small-town politics and discover more of the city of Apple Trail itself. Since they’re novellas and I’m bound by a short word count, I don’t have a lot of opportunities to world build and such in each individual story, but instead do it over the whole series.

Being an author of today, what is it like having the chance to have your books published in digital format? Do you think this makes it easier for readers to get a hold of books they love, especially yours?

I’ve really enjoyed being epublished. There are certainly benefits to both formats and for now, with this series, epublishing has been exceptional. I think it’s easier for readers to find me who are already aware of ebooks. I live in a small town, so I typically have to explain what an ebook is, how you can read them—that they can be read on your computer screen or even on your phone! So for those readers, more difficult to find me, but ebooks are growing by leaps and bounds and it won’t be long before eReading will be as common as print.

Do you have any writing quirks?

I tend to sing or hum a song while I type and edit….you can imagine how much my husband loves this! I think I do it because I have a fairly short attention span---oh, look at that shiny thing over there!--*ahem* so singing kind of occupies me and keeps me busy so I can keep writing.

What gets you into the mood to write?

Other than I want to get paid? Nothing really in particular. Some days I really need a cup of coffee, other days I just want gum. Sometimes nothing will satisfy me unless I have a bowl of popcorn and a fizzy drink. Then there are times when there is nothing. I just want silence and nothing else.

Favorite book, if you can choose one?

You know, I should probably choose some fancy classic, but I can’t. I’m going with the first romance book I ever read: Christina Skye’s Code Name: Princess. It introduced me to romance, got me hooked on the genre and that book is why I’m here today!

What are you currently reading?

Reading? You mean like for pleasure and not edits?? What’s that again? It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to read. I have a few things in my TBR pile and they’re all neatly organized on my Kindle. Probably the next sleepless night I have, I’ll start something.

How about an “interesting” fact about yourself that everyone might not know.

While I come across as a fairly large social butterfly, my favorite days are the ones where I’m home just silently watching a movie with my family in my pajama’s. There’s no internet or phone calls or anything. It’s just quiet, comfortable downtime. Those days don’t come very often, but I LOVE them.

Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share about your books?

In the Apple Trail series, each story stands alone. I’ve had several readers pick one up mid-series and not realize it was part of a series until they got to my author’s note at the end! So don’t be afraid to pick any of them up and give them a try. I do drop a few hints and hearsay about previous stories for followers of the series, but if you haven’t read the previous characters, you wouldn’t realize it. But to get the full impact of the series itself and the town, it’s best to read them all.

And now, for your chance to win a copy of her newest book. It sounds just wonderful, doesn't it? Just fill out the form below and check back here May 2nd to find out if your the winner.

On The Fence by Keri Ford

This book is for readers 18 and older

On The Fence (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)
Publication Date: February 19th 2011
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ Erotica novella
Format I Read: E-book
Series: Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas (Book 2)
Other Reviews for this author: Through The Walls
Add to your Goodreads TBR List
My Rating:

Book Blurb:  If Shellie Chambers has to hear one more condescending comment from her mother about life or men, she might scream. So, she packs up and takes a trip to see her long-missed high school friend, Riley. He'll know exactly what she needs to loosen up. But instead of the girl-chasing jock she remembers from their youth, Riley’s gone country, keeping up a farm of his own.
Riley Hamilton has settled down on a farm his uncle left to him. Not the life he ever envisioned, but after getting a girl pregnant in college and then watching helplessly as the baby was aborted, he learned the hard way it was time to settle down. Shellie’s reentry into his life reminds of his wild past and it’s a fight to ignore the tempting woman she has become.

My Thoughts: I first want to say, I always read the reviews to books on Goodreads before reading a book. I previously read Through The Walls by Keri Ford and I loved it. I couldn't believe the ratings were only at 3 stars on Goodreads, so I was a little nervous. Well, there is now a 5 star rating on there. In fact, I loved this one probably just a little more then the last one. I fell in love with Shellie and Riley as characters and my complaint is this book needed to be longer. I might need a follow up on these two. The chemistry between these two characters in this book flew off my sony e-reader. I could feel the sizzle it seemed like. These two were made for one another and they knew it. It took a little convincing on the part of Shellie to let Riley know that he was who she wanted for always, not just a fling. The intimate scenes in this book were hot and didn't leave anything out for the reader.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes contemporary romance or light erotica. This is not heavy erotica where you are left wondering how some of that stuff was possible.

Through The Walls by Keri Ford

This book is for readers 18 and older.

Through the Wall (Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas)
Publication date: December 19th, 2010
Genre: Contemporary Romance/ erotic
Format: e-book
Series: Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas (Book 1)
My Rating:

Book Summary: She doesn't want wild and raunchy, just a little spice. Stephanie Faulkner listens to her neighbor's nightly sexcapades through her bedroom wall. What used to make her blush now has her reaching for her vibrator. But she's had enough self-fulfillment and now wants the real thing.
He wants commitment and long-term, not a quick roll.
The only woman Parker Madison ever wanted for long-term was Stephanie...but she's off-limits. He's tried to find a substitute but there just isn't another woman like her. Now that she's available, if he gives her time to get over her ex-husband...will he finally get his long-desired chance?
Short-term doesn't lead to long term. Or does it?
But when Stephanie digs up the courage to ask Parker for something a little exciting and spicy, he nervously rejects her. Still, she sets out to get what she wants a little sexcapade of her very own. No commitment. It's just sex, right?
Parker knows he could never be satisfied with having Stephanie temporarily. But as she continues to tempt him and he finds it harder to resist, he begins to think short-term might be better than nothing at all. Unless he can convince her into more.

My Thoughts: This is a fun read. Its a quick read that will keep you entertained the whole time. Stephanie is recently divorced after her husband Jake cheated on her. Parker is her neighbor in her apartment complex who also just happens to have his bedroom on the other side of her wall. She has spent many night listening to him and all his different women and she knows that he is what she wants. He is what she needs and she is determined to get him. Parker however isn't wanting just a hop in the sack with Stephanie, he has always wanted her to be his forever. He has got to resist her. There is a lot of humor in this book. You will find yourself laughing along as well as feeling the sizzling chemistry between these two. I can't wait to read book 2 in this series. You definitely want to check this book out if you want a quick afternoon read that will leave you pleased.
