google reader help...anyone?

i like to read my  blogs that i follow through google reader. I have two columns....book bloggers and mom bloggers. Anywho...i went crazy at one time subscribing like crazy to blogs and i am trying to weed through and clean up my feed. For days now i keep deleting the same blogs from the blogger dashboard and the google read. I click unsubscribe. I can't find a place anywhere that says save.

So...how do i get the blogs i no longer wish i read out of my feed?

Thanks!

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner review

So, first off this book interested me because i thought Who in the world is Bree Tanner? Seeing that i read the whole Twilight series two years ago, i had no idea who she was. Just like Riley. Someone they keep showing for the movie and I couldn't remember who he was. So, i decided in light of the movie and to read this one, i needed to re read Eclipse. I then learned by page 500 and something who they were. Such small characters and now i know why i didn't remember them.

So onto The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, i would probably give it 3 stars. It was a short read. Which is good. If it had gone on any longer i might have dropped a star. And i mean nothing mean by that. The plot was there and it could have made for a great book if i hadn't already known that obviously Bree is going to die.

You get introduced to Bree and how she has a strong head on her shoulders. She figures out Riley and Victoria's plot fairly fast and the lies that they are telling this group of newborn vampires. There is a love interest in the book to Bree. And that would have been the part i would have loved to have read more about, if not knowing what was going to happen to Bree from Eclipse.

The book is a great companion to read if you have just finished Eclipse. That way Eclipse is fresh in your head. It isn't something i recommend if you have not read the Twilight series, or if it has been awhile. I am curious since TV is making Riley out has a bigger part of this movie, if they will tie some of this book into the movie. I will find out Friday!

Its Monday, What are you reading?

Its time to dish on what i read last week and what i plan on, all sponsered by One Persons Journey.

Last week...was an ok week. I started a series i wanted to love but i have not! They had a decent plot...but i was not thrilled by them, so i hardly read. I also have never been someone who reads more then one book at a time.

I read...the first two books in the C.A. Belmond three book series: A Rather Lovely Inheritance and A Rather Curious Engagement.  Today i was ready to start the third book and just couldnt do it right now. I added it back to my TBR stack. So, in light of Eclipse, I am reading  Eclipse! I don't usually re read books, but i am really enjoying it. Its like i forgot most of what happend.

So after Eclipse, I am going to read The short second life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer. I guess its suppose to go with Eclipse. And hopefully by Friday when i head oout for a girls night to see Eclipse, i will be totally in love with Edward again. Though...Eclipse kind makes me team Jacob.

Happy reading this week!

Do you Re-read?

I am not usually a re-reader of books. But decided that since the current series i am reading me is frankly boring me and i am having a horrible time getting through the 3 books, and that in light of Eclipse coming, i am re-reading Eclipse! So, do you ever re-read?

sponsered by Crazy For Books! Yes, i am a few days late of linking up!

  1. What are you reading?
  2. What did you just finish?
  3. What are you reading next?

A Rather Curious Engagement (PENNY NICHOLS) 1. This is the second book in this chick lit series. There are three books total. I am liking this one better then i was the first one. I hope the series keeps improving.

A Rather Lovely Inheritance (PENNY NICHOLS) 2. I just finished this one. It was the first book in the series. I didn't finish this one dieing to get to the second book. I am 100 pages into the second and so far its better.

A Rather Charming Invitation 3. So of coarse, i plan to read the third one next!

Look for a review on this series soon!

its Monday, what are you reading?

bookmeme

Its Monday’s What are you reading, sponsored by One Persons Journey. Go link up and let us know what you have been reading.

Last week was a decent week. I didn’t read as much as i had wanted, but oh well. It was a week of good books, so that’s what matters.

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. I wrote a review on this one. It was a good book. Hannah showed her writing skills in this one. It was a great book. Check out my review a couple blogs down.

Burn by Linda Howard. I have been wanting to read this for so long. I had the eBook version. There were mixed reviews on this one before i read it. So, as much as i had been wanting to read it, i had put it aside. But finally, i was ready for a little suspense and romance. The plot of the story was good. I see a sequel to it, with the main characters Jenner, best friend Syd. Anyway, the sexual tension in this book and chemistry between the two main characters Jenner and Cael was fantastic. Though, the scenes where they are actually “together” were lacking. With the tension in the book, i kind of expected more then three paragraphs. But, it didn’t ruin the book. The book was good.

Currently reading:

A Rather Lovely Inheritance by C.A. Belmond. Just started this. There are two more books in the series, so this will probably take up my week. Its classic chit lit. Will let ya know my review when i finish them.

Happy reading this week!

What My Kids are Reading this week

Its been a good reading week for us. And i love i found this meme. I was actually thinking about how great a meme this would be just last night.

It was a Junie B Jones week in our household. We read her Monkey business story where Junie B gets her baby brother and gets into trouble because when Granma Miller says her baby is cute as a monkey, she thinks her baby brother is REALLY a monkey. It was a funny and cute story. I was a little unhappy though with as much as the author put the words stupid and dumb in the book. Luckily i was reading this aloud so i could edit those words out.

My 5 year old is reading another Junie B Jones, Something Fishy. I have NO idea what its about. He normally picks it up when i am reading and reads aloud across the room. I will have to pick it up and read through it to know.

Other books this week were My Little Pony books for my daughter. Star Wars books with my son.

Its been a great week

Dad's Bible Review

I chose this book from BookSneeze to review and to have as a fathers day gift for my husband. I agreed to review this book and the review does not have to be positive.

So, to review it; its an amazing addition to a bible. I wish i had the Mom's version. It is a new century version. Very easy to read. The ease in the writing has made me think about taking the quest to actually read the bible.

Some great features of this bible are through out it, it brings quotes out for dads to relate to and help with any struggles they may have. There is a question and answer sections in the back to help dad's with questions they may be faced with when having kids. a few examples are

  • Does God ever get sad?
  • If Jesus was perfect, why did some people hate him?
  • What time is it in Heaven?
  • What Happens when we die?
  • Did Jesus go to schoo1?
  • Is Santa Claus real?

That is just a few of the many questions it has. It is defiently a great place to turn too whenever you kids have questions. Having two kids, i know they come up with great questions.

There is an awesome index in the back to, to help find answer or topics that you may have questions about.

I give this bible 5 stars! It is defiently worth every father having a copy on their book shelf.

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

Wintergarden
I have been a huge Kristin Hannah fan since my mom handed my On Mystic Lake and i discovered an author who knew how to touch your heart. I have been satisfied with almost all of her books. Another favorite by her i really liked was True Colors. So when she came out with this book Winter Garden i put it on hold right away at the library. After much waiting, it finally arrived. So, i dove into it finally. It starts out slow. If your looked for some kind of romance in this one, there is none. However, the book shows what an extraordinary writer that she is. There is a story within a story.
What’s it about you ask? Well, a father has held his family together for years. A mother who pays no attention to her children and never speaks to them. A daughter who has been running the family business who never takes time for her and who has forgotten who she is. Another daughter who travels the world always after another story. The three never really close. Until their father passes away. The three women join together and get to one another.
The amazing part of the story was the story in it self where you learn about why the mother is the way she is. You will cry. There were several parts of this book that even made me sit back and look at my life and realize that i was making some of the same mistakes in my life and marriage that one of the daughters had. It is always nice when you can relate so well to a character.
This book get 5 stars all the way. Like i said, bare with the slow beginning and you will be happy you did!

Good Girl Gone Bad by Karin Tabke

bad  So, this was my second time i dipped my toe into the world of erotica. The first series i read was by Shelly Laurenston and didn’t realize what i was about to read. They were wild…but they had a lot of vulgar language that caught me off guard. This book was just plain hot! LOL, not sure what to say. There was hardly an cussing, so i was able to enjoy it more.
So, what is it about? In the world of Klub Kashmir 3 girls have gone missing. undercover lieutenant Ty works there looking for who might be taking these girl. Phil is the woman from the investigation department who has been sent to work undercover as a cocktail waitress/ stripper also to try to draw out the kidnapper. Phil is basically a virgin and this is her first time being around anything like this. They chemistry is off the hook between Ty and Phil. The author did an awesome job. The story line was actually very good and the mystery kept you wondering. My main complaint was, only a few chapters in, i knew who the kidnappers were. It was obvious. Not sure if they author did that purposely or if she really thought it would be surprising.
I recommend this to anyone who likes erotica or has thought about trying it. It was a tame erotica book if that makes sense. It was no where near as bad as that Shelly Laurentson series i read.

Its Monday, What are you Reading (v2)

bookmeme  This book meme is brought to you by One Persons Journey Through a World of Books. Go link up and post your books
So i haven’t done this in a couple of weeks. I might add a book or two that wasn’t read last week. So anyway, what have i been reading:
The Pact by Jodi Picoult….EXCELLENT book. I just posted a review on it, so be sure to check it out.  It is a book that has moved up and is defiently now a favorite of mine and will be passed to many friends to dive in and enjoy.
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. This was my book clubs book for June. It was a very good story. It was a memoir. It was i think the first memoir i have read. I really enjoyed it. It was a quick read.
Dogs and Goddess’s by Jennifer Crusie. I didn’t love it. I wanted to. Probably would have done more reading this week if it wasn’t for that book. I love Jennifer Crusie, but her newer stuff just isn’t cutting it in my opinion.
A Wolf in Wolf’s Clothing by Deborah MacGillevray. I just finished this book. It was good. She was a new author for me. And defiently one i will read again.
So, what’s on the list for this week?
  • Good Girl Gone Bad by Karin Tabke (yes…dipping my toes into another erotica!)
  • Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
  • Burn by Linda Howard
  • Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
Happy Reading!

The Pact by Jodi Picoult

I recently read this book. It was an awesome book. It was so hard to put down. Its about two teens who make a pact to commit suicide together. The two have literally known one another since birth. They have been neighbors. Well, the book takes you to "then" to get to know the two kids involved and the parents. It then takes you to "now" where the boy is being accused of 1st degree murder since he ended up not commiting suicide. Its was a suspeceful read b/c you wanted to know what happens. You want to see if the boy is really guilty of murder or if it is what he says.

So, not to give to much away, run out and check it out! It was a great read.
